Captain's Meeting
Welcome to the 42nd Bermuda Anglers Club International Light Tackle Tournament. We are starting a new era with Bill and Gene Duval and Crayton Green finally retiring (don’t think that they have stopped picking up a rod as this picture of Crayton proves with a 91.9lb tuna on 20 last Sunday) from the tournament after fishing it for many years. They are going to be missed by all. Also Susan Wilson has decided that the tattler has become too much and we thank her and Julie for the great job they did over the years.
We are welcoming back last years champions Dr. G. and the Stiff Rods – Scott Garrett, Wayne Booth and Pete Rose (missing from picture) to defend their title.
Cindy Mitchell has two new team mates this year Fiona Beck, who is Dean Rea’s partner and also from New Zealand and a good fisherwoman, being top club angler last year, and a friend of theirs Jim Hines from the USA and they are calling themselves “2 1/2 Women” a play on 2 1/2 Men. As usual Cindy and her team were the best dressed but Dr. G and the Stiff rods plan to show their colours on Wednesdayat the BBQ, as Pete Rose unfortunately didn’t arrive until late last night.
2006 second place team the 3D’s – David (Jr. missing) and David Lines and Dean Rea, are going to be routing hard for the fish to find their lines and not the other teams (although I hear David Lines Jr. hasn’t picked up a rod since last year).
Also returning is team Goombay Hookers – David “Fingers” Fingland and Colin Rose, unfortunately Ralph is not coming back but we welcome Neil McKinney from Nassau as the third angler.
Our next returning team is Seahorse Anglers Club although Leslie Spanswick is opting to be on the other end as a mate for Overproof, so we welcome Gilbert Amaral in his place along with returning teammates David Ross DeSilva and Ronnie Boys.
And finally the BAC team of David Skinner, Peter Michell and Francis Patterson will once again be fighting to be top team.
As for the boats, it’s the same old motley crews; we mean that in the nicest of ways! with David Barnes returning with a new Shake Down which was Knock Down. So the rest of the line up is last year’s winner Overproof – Peter Rans, Playmate – Keith and Kevin Winter, Equalizer with the smartest crew Reggie Horsman, Andrew Marshall and Scott Amos, Tenacious – Sloane Wakefield and Jason Hollis, Real Addiction – Craigin Curtis and Nick Martin.
Reggie won the gaff in the captain’s draw and Peter Rans the breakfast lure, which were both kindly, donated by Colin Rose.

Thanks to Bobby for once again being our auctioneer even though he isn’t fishing this year – hope the golf is good!
Danny Fox tried hard to out bid Wayne but only managed to come away with a team - BAC and a boat - Overproof and we’ll see if any of them buy themselves back. So the top selling team was Dr G. and the Stiff Rods with Goombay Hookers coming in second. The top boat was Playmate bought by Susan Wilson, with Equalizer coming second.
It seems that the wind finally calmed down as things heated up inside so we wish you all tight lines today and decreasing seas.
See you on the dock!
